Welcome to the Community Link Newsletter

Our weekly newsletter aims to keep residents and businesses connected to us and all that is going on in and throughout the City. We look forward to connecting with you.

Take the Clean Air Pledge

California is coming together for clean air and the City of Irvine is once again joining in this statewide effort by encouraging residents, businesses, and organizations to participate in California Clean Air Day Wednesday, October 5.

We can all take simple steps toward cleaner air through actions big and small:

Reduce vehicle emissions by carpooling, driving electric vehicles, or by walking, biking, or scootering to your destination.

Go green and plant a home garden, or compost your food in your own backyard.

Switch it out and take steps like changing your home air filter, buying produce locally, not eating meat for at least a day, installing solar panels, or switching to all-purpose cleaner only.

Sign the pledge to take action toward cleaner air.

Lighting Up Hope

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and the City of Irvine has joined the Orange County Health Care Agency in raising awareness of this important issue by lighting up the pedestrian bridge over Irvine Boulevard in purple and teal this week.
If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, these resources are available:

For Families offers resource referrals at cityofirvine.org/forfamilies.

The City's Mobile Crisis Response Team responds to non-emergency mental health, substance abuse, and other non-medical crises. Learn more at cityofirvine.org/bewellirvine.

You can also call or text 988 to reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Save Lives with UCI Health
UCI Health and the City of Irvine partnered this summer for a series of blood drives. The last chance to make a lifesaving donation at the UCI Health Blood Drive at Great Park is Thursday, September 29, noon–6 p.m.

Your donation will help ensure UCI Health can meet the needs of its patients and the Orange County community.

To learn more about eligibility, safety, and other common questions and book a blood drive appointment, visit yourgreatpark.org/blooddrive.

Prepare Now for an Emergency
Disaster can strike at any time. Take steps now to prepare for an emergency.

Sign up for emergency alerts at AlertOC.org. Registering with Alert OC allows you to receive time-sensitive voice messages on your home, mobile, or business phone. Text messages may also be sent to mobile phones, email accounts, and hearing impaired receiving devices.

Know your zone by reviewing the City's evacuation zone map.

The Irvine Police Department's (IPD) Hi/Lo siren will alert you of the need to evacuate during an emergency. This siren, which sounds different from the sirens you may be familiar with, will be emitted from IPD vehicles to alert neighborhoods that are in immediate danger and must evacuate. A recorded multilingual evacuation message will pair with the siren.
