On March 15, 2022 the City Council approved a resolution extending the City's existing emergency measures until further notice to correspond with the State and County reopening guidelines. These emergency measures can be changed at any time to coincide with further revisions to the State or Los Angeles County Health Officer's Order.

Lomita Winners Announced at Lemonade Day National Conference

After the successful Lemonade Day Lomita during the summer, our community has even more to celebrate as it recently received two awards from Lemonade Day National at the conference in Houston. 

Represented by Lomita Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Heidi Butzine, it was announced that Lomita's local youth entrepreneur of the year, Pearl DiMassa, owner of  Lucky Lemonade Co. also won 1st Runner Up for 2022 National Youth Entrepreneur of the Year! Clearly Lomita has quite a few motivated and talented youth entrepreneurs as last year's local entrepreneur Brianna Garcia of Bri's Frozen Lemonades won the national title for Youth Entrepreneur of the Year - the year the event was launched. 

Lomita also won the award this year for the Small City Most Business Results. To read more, click here

District Mapping Tool Virtual Community Workshop Recording Available 

The City of Lomita held a virtual community workshop on September 15, 2022 to give residents the residents the opportunity to share input on preferred district boundaries. On Fridays We Wear Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Lomita employees wear pink on Fridays to support the cause, celebrate the lives of cancer survivors, and honor the lives of those who are bravely fighting the ongoing battle against breast cancer.

October 20 is the California Great ShakeOut

Drop, cover and hold! The Great California ShakeOut is an annual drill held on the third Thursday of October encouraging everyone to be earthquake prepared. It is essential to have an emergency plan in place to help reduce the risk of injuries and recover quickly following an earthquake. By helping share information with friends, family, and your community, you can play a key role in helping others appropriately prepare for the next major earthquake.

Cypress Water Production Facility

As part of our commitment to open and transparent operations of our municipal water system, the City of Lomita is hosting a series of one-hour tours of the Cypress Water Production Facility (CWPF) open to residents and business owners. The tours are an opportunity for residents to get answers to some common water questions and discuss the City's water supply and upcoming projects and programs. Join us for one of our tours. Upcoming Meetings and Events

City facilities are open to the public with safety measures in place. Pursuant to AB 361 the public and City Council may participate in these meetings via teleconference as social distancing measures are recommended by State and County officials.
