Greetings!

It's the holidays and there's a lot happening in Long Beach! Don't miss out on the 68th Annual Daisy Lane Parade happening this Saturday, December 10. Inside this issue we have a list of events happening throughout the city.

We also have some exciting updates about the Queen Mary. Critical repairs to the ship have been completed and sections of the ship will re-open before the end of the year.

The public is invited to the Inauguration Ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 5:30 p.m. at the Terrace Theater where the newly elected officials for the City of Long Beach will be sworn in.

With COVID-19 cases rising, the City of Long Beach has entered the Medium (Yellow) Tier of COVID-19 Community Level. Long Beach to Host 68th Annual Daisy Lane Parade Saturday, December 10

The City of Long Beach and the Office of Seventh District Councilmember Roberto Uranga, along with the Wrigley Area Neighborhood Alliance, will host the 68th Annual Daisy Lane Parade on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m., with a night of holiday entertainment on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Long Beach to Host Inauguration of Nine Elected Officials December 20 at the Terrace Theater

The newly elected officials for the City of Long Beach will be sworn in at an Inauguration Ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 5:30 p.m. at the Terrace Theater. The public is invited to attend the ceremony in person or watch it via livestream on the City’s social pages.

Long Beach Moves to Final Stages of Queen Mary Critical Repairs

This past summer, the City of Long Beach completed another round of critical repairs to the Queen Mary and is moving into the final stages of repairs. Critical repair work ensures that the ship is safe for visitors when the City welcomes the community and Queen Mary fans back on board to enjoy sections of the ship by the end of the year.

Health officials urge increased vigilance to slow the spread

With COVID-19 cases rising, the City of Long Beach has entered the Medium (Yellow) Tier of COVID-19 Community Level, the second of three tiers outlined by the Centers for Disease Control. The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services is urging residents to be vigilant and take preventative steps to slow the spread of COVID-19. It is especially important for everyone to become vaccinated and boosted when eligible.

City to Host Health Permit Workshop for Mobile Food Vendors and Food Truck Operators

The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services will host a workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 13, for mobile food vendors, including street food vendors and food truck operators. The workshop will provide information about obtaining a Long Beach Health Permit as well as upcoming changes to the California Retail Food Code.

Long Beach to Offer Free Winter Youth Fun Days Program and Teen Activities During Winter School Break

Our Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine will offer free extended supervised recreation programs for youth over the winter school break. Both the Winter Fun Days Program and Teen Program will operate Dec. 27 through 30 and Jan. 3 through 6, noon to 5 p.m., at parks throughout Long Beach. Youth may come and go at their own discretion and PRM staff will be on-site to lead a variety of recreational activities.

City of Long Beach Implements Reduced Annual Parking Pass Fee for Veterans for El Dorado East Regional Park

Our Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine has implemented a reduced annual parking pass fee at El Dorado East Regional Park for veterans. The reduced fee now accompanies existing discounts available for older adults and people with disabilities.
