In response to this week's forecast calling for temps in the 90's all week, Mayor Christenson has asked the Emergency Management Team to open a cooling center Tuesday through Friday from 10AM-6PM at the Malden Senior Center located at 7 Washington St

If you feel as though you will not have sufficient cooling in your home, we will be opening up the Malden Senior Center located at 7 Washington Street between the hours of 10AM and 6PM Tuesday, July 19th - Friday, July 22nd. The building will be airconditioned and plenty of water will be available for hydration.

If you are looking for transportation to the cooling center, please call 781-397-7000 and dial 0.

With the heat continuing throughout this week, here are some important tips to stay safe during extreme heat:

-Never leave pets or children alone in closed vehicles or non-cooled rooms.
Slow down and avoid strenuous activity and stay in a cool place as much as possible.
- Stay indoors during the hottest part of the day (usually between 10AM-4PM.
-Drink plenty of water and don't forget electrolytes such as Gatorade, Pedialyte, etc.
-Keep mobile phones charged in case of power outages.
-Check on neighbors, friends and family that you are concerned with
