CharlieCards Available at Mayor Brodeur's Office
Senator Jason Lewis' Office Provided Mayor Brodeur with Over 200 Charlie Cards to Distribute to Community Members

Mayor Paul Brodeur's Office will serve as a location to pick up CharlieCards for commuters hoping to take advantage of the free MBTA Commuter Rail rides between Melrose and Boston during the Orange Line Shutdown, which is currently in place until September 18.

Ride for Free During the Shutdown

During the Shutdown, riders can show a CharlieCard or CharlieTicket and ride any Zone 1A, 1 & 2 Commuter Rail line for free. These stations include Melrose’s Cedar Park, Highlands, and Wyoming Hill train stations.

Community members can pick up CharlieCards at the Mayor’s office, located on the second floor of City Hall (562 Main Street), Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. and on Fridays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The City welcomes both Melrose residents and people working for a Melrose business to pick up CharlieCards.

In addition to the Mayor's Office, community members can pick up CharlieCards at the Oak Grove Station or the Shaw's located at 34 Essex Street in Melrose.

Please note: CharlieCards do not come pre-loaded with funds. After the Orange Line Shutdown ends on September 18th, community members can add funds to their CharlieCards using any Fare Vending Machine or online by visiting charliecard.mbta.com/CharlieCardWebProgram/pages/reloadCharlieCardIV.jsf

For any questions, please contact the Mayor’s office at 781-979-4440 or [email protected].
