A total of 42 Melrose, Saugus and Wakefield Vietnam-era Veterans will return home from an escorted tour of Washington, D.C., this Thursday, September 15 at approximately 6:30 p.m. The community is encouraged to line Main Street at this time to give these Veterans the formal “Welcome Home” they deserve.

As they make their way home on the 15th, the Veterans’ tour bus will travel southbound down Main Street, pass under the American flag at the Fire Station, continue down Main Street into Downtown Melrose, and turn right on to West Foster Street before arriving at their destination—the Milano Center parking lot at 6:30 p.m. The Milano Center is located at 201 W Foster St.

For folks who can join and wish to wave an American flag as the tour bus drives by,  are available at the Milano Center and should be picked up by 4 p.m. on Thursday.

The Roll to Washington Committee (R2DC) provided these Vietnam-era veterans with an all-expenses-paid four-day tour of Washington, D.C. as part of the committee’s effort to honor Vietnam-era veterans with a “welcome home” experience. Their tour of Washington, D.C., included a special visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
