Mechanic/Welder

Work in a fast-paced environment for the City of Melrose DPW. The City of Melrose is currently hiring for a Mechanic/Welder. The Mechanic/Welder is responsible for a variety of tasks, including monitoring fleet equipment, making repairs on smaller departmental equipment, and performing routine checks. There are a variety of benefits, including pension, health insurance, paid time off, and opportunity for overtime.

Administrative Assistant, Mayor’s Office

The Administrative Assistant plays a critical role in the Mayor’s Office, connecting members of the Melrose community to the resources and information they need. The Administrative Assistant creates a professional, welcoming and organized environment while addressing constituent concerns with tact and courtesy. Fleet Foreman

The Fleet Foreman has the opportunity to supervise garage operations for the City of Melrose DPW. They will head work crews and assigned work in the Fleet Division and plan, organize, supervise, maintain and repair a variety of motor vehicles, heavy equipment, specialized equipment, and smaller equipment and motors. This position comes with many benefits, including reimbursement for personal tools, health insurance, pension, and PTO.

Director of Inspectional Services, Building Commissioner, Zoning Compliance Officer

Work in a vibrant community and help lead a great department as the Director of Inspectional Services. The Director of Inspectional Services, also serving as Building Commissioner, zoning officer, and ADA Coordinator, manages department operations and staff, formulates Department policies and procedures to uniformly administer and enforce Federal and State laws and City ordinances. This individual also enforces State codes and local ordinances relating to building, electrical, plumbing, handicap accessibility, gas, fire alarms, life safety, weights and measures.

PT Facilities Helper – Ed Station

The Melrose Department of Public Works is happy to announce that we will be accepting applications for Temporary After School Helpers to assist with after school programs and custodial work in the elementary schools. The tasks will include, but will not be limited to event set-up and clean-up, emptying trash, sweeping, general cleaning, and other duties as assigned. The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 3-6pm when school is in session. All positions pay $15.00/hour, the minimum age is 17, and candidates must have transportation to the elementary schools.
