New fiber optic cables will be installed along South Bay Blvd. from within the Morro Bay City limits, to Santa Ysabel Avenue to Los Osos. Work will be located mostly in the bike lane and on the road shoulder. Construction for the work within San Luis Obispo County portion of South Bay Blvd. began June 20th. Construction for the work within the City of Morro Bay limits will begin July 5th. Construction is scheduled to be completed on October 2nd.

No full road closures are anticipated, but partial lane closures may be necessary. If partial closures occur, for the safety of motorists and workers, flaggers will be in place. Electronic message boards will display updated information during the project. Motorists are advised to adjust their travel plans in consideration of potential delays.

The private telecommunications company, Zayo Group from Boulder, Colorado, has contracted with Leo Tidwell Excavating Corporation for the installation of new fiber optic cables. Zayo Group provides high-speed data infrastructure throughout North America and Europe.
