As you may have heard, the City currently has two large projects under review for permits: the Vistra Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project located at 1290 Embarcadero and the residential subdivision of the 3300 Panorama property.  As these projects make their way through the early stages of the permitting process community members have expressed interest in better understanding how projects are reviewed by the City and how the public can engage and provide input on projects.  For many, the planning process is complex and it isn’t always clear how to express concerns, thoughts, and ideas on projects.  We would love to demystify the planning process for community members, as an informed citizenry is an engaged citizenry.  With that goal in mind, the City is holding a general Planning permit process information session on August 10, 2022, at the Veterans Memorial Building, located at 209 Surf Street from 5 pm to 6:30 pm.  While this information session will help answer questions about permitting process in general, the specific aspects of the Vistra BESS and 3300 Panorama projects will not be discussed at the meeting.  The public will have ample time and opportunities to weigh in on those projects at a later date.
