City Council

City Council Meeting November 2, 2022 – Report on Closed Session:
Council voted to ratify Resolution No. 21-029 Emergency Teleconferencing authorizing remote teleconference meetings of all City legislative bodies for the following 30 days in accord with the Ralph M. Brown Act.

Actions taken by the City Council Regular meeting on November 2, 2022, include:

 City Attorney Brian Pierik had nothing to report.
Conference with Legal Counsel – Pending Litigation (Government Code § 54956.9)
William Hobbs, Susan Hobbs, Donald Shirkey, and Irma Shirkey v. The City of Pacific Grove, Bill Kampe, Robert Huitt, Ken Cuneo, Rudy Fischer, Cynthia Garfield, Bill Peake, and Nick Smith.
Monterey County Superior Court Case No. 18CV002411

City Attorney Brian Pierik reported this item was not completed during the 5:00 p.m. session and will continue trailing the regular agenda.  Report, if any, to occur at the next regular meeting.

Approved Minutes of the October 19, 2022 City Council Special and Regular Meetings
Adopted a resolution rescinding Resolution No. 17-018 which authorized recordation of a lien at 987 Ransford and authorized the Mayor to execute a Release of Notice of Lien
Held a second reading and adopted an ordinance that amends Pacific Grove Municipal Code Chapter 18.36.050 related to the safe parking program
Held a second reading and adopted an ordinance amending Chapters
2.05 and 2.16 and 6.20 of the Pacific Grove Municipal Code on Authority of the Mayor to Sign Contracts and Purchasing System and Procedures and Warrants
Held a second reading and adopted an ordinance amending Municipal Code Section Chapter 14.04 Marine Refuge Establishing Roadwork Restrictions During the Harbor Seal Pupping Season
Received First Quarter Treasurer’s Quarterly Report – Fiscal Year 2022-23
Received Status of Records Management System and Online Contracts
Received report of emergency directives/modifications.
Approved the purchase of a fire truck and authorized wiring of funds ahead of the budget amendment, using funds from the General Fund
Received Traffic Safety Commission Meeting Minutes: August 23, 2022
Requested the City Attorney read the title of the ordinance, motioned to waive further reading of the ordinance, introduced and held first reading of an ordinance that adopts the 2022 Edition of the California Building Standards Codes, with amendments, and directed that publication of the ordinance be satisfied by publication of a summary approved by the City Attorney.
Received Climate Action and Adaptation Plan and provided direction
Received Single Use Plastic Code Revisions and provided direction

The next Regular City Council Meeting is scheduled for November 16, 2022.
