New Year's Eve Celebration

The City of Paso Robles is hosting a free New Year’s Eve celebration in the downtown City Park that includes a bonfire, band, DJ, fire dancers and more. We are seeking three food trucks and a champagne booth to participate in the event. Food truck applicants will be selected based on their menu and décor; the choice of champagne/sparkling wine vendor will be awarded to the first winery who applies.  Call 805.227.7236 for more information.

Downtown Parking Spaces

The City of Paso Robles is following recommendations provided by the Downtown Parking Advisory Commission and City Council to update the short-term parking spaces in Downtown to ‘bookend’ style spaces. There are currently 24 short-term parking spaces in Downtown. 8 of the current short-term spaces will be removed and there will be 19 new short-term spaces added for an updated total of 35 short-term spaces. Water Rate Hearing

The City of Paso Robles is proposing to gradually phase in water rate adjustments over the next five years to support water system operating and maintenance expenses, fund the City’s share of debt service for the Nacimiento Water Project, and provide funding for capital improvements needed to support safe and reliable service.  All City water customers are receiving notices in the mail to announce a public hearing on the proposed water rate increases on December 20th, 2022 at 6:30 pm. Cannabis Survey Results

Results from the Paso Robles community survey regarding cannabis are now available on the City’s web site. In July 2022, the City Council directed staff to conduct community outreach to gauge input on the potential for expanding the types of cannabis businesses that are allowed within the City, with a focus on retail storefronts. The City Council will hold more public hearings in early 2023. More information

City Awarded Over $17MM in Transportation Grants

The City of Paso Robles was recently recommended for a $13.8 million grant to improve the Niblick Corridor from Creston Road to Spring Street. The project will enhance Niblick’s four lanes while providing separate facilities for bicyclists and pedestrians. This is the most recent of four transportation-related grants the City was recently awarded.  More information

Community Asked to Test Internet Access and Speed

The cities of Paso Robles and Atascadero, through their joint broadband strategy project, and the Broadband Consortium of the Pacific Coast, have launched an internet needs assessment survey and speed test campaign for the public to self-report their digital experiences and internet speeds at home, work, or wherever they connect. Tai Chi

Tai chi, moving meditation, is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.  The benefits of tai chi may include a decrease in stress anxiety and depression and an improvement in mood, flexibility, balance, agility energy in stamina.  Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 PM in the Centennial Park Acorn Room. $65/8 punch pass or $10 drop in.  Learn more and register here.

Beginning Crochet

Students will learn and practice basic crochet stitches including a slip knot, chain, single, and a half double. Learning to crochet has numerous benefits. In addition to the feeling of accomplishment at learning a new skill, the repetitive motion of crocheting has been associated with decreasing stress, calming anxiety, easing depression and helping to keeping the mind sharp. Aqua Jam at Municipal Pool

Join Aqua Zumba instructor Jennifer Loewen Nicolds for this low impact 30-minute warm water workout. This class is designed to be a full body workout in the indoor warm water Municipal Pool.  Bathing suit required; water shoes recommended. Participants must be able to swim and enter and exit the pool independently.  Tuesdays and Thursdays. $45/mo. Class times are: 11:30 AM, 12:05 PM and 12:40 PM. Russ Surber Photography

Russ Surber, displaying his photography in the Paso Robles City Library the month of November, invites the public to reawaken their senses by viewing common sights from a different perspective. “I believe that because of our familiarity with the landscape that surrounds us we often lose the ability to see its inherent beauty; it becomes dull because our senses become dull.”

Macrame Holiday Wreath

Materials Pick-Up Party: November 16, 6-7 pm, Library Conference Room
December’s craft activity is perfect for beginners and those more skilled in knot tying. Using the larks head, double half hitch, and square knots, create a white macrame wreath with red ornaments, similar to the one shown, suitable for a variety of holidays. Registration required for each participant. For ages 16+.

Story Hour Room

The Paso Robles City Library has returned to offering weekly in-person Preschool Story Time for ages 3-6 with Youth Services Librarian Melissa Bailey. Join her on Wednesdays for stories, movement, music, and a craft activity. Children can practice their listening and socialization skills while having lots of fun. Space is very limited so come early and secure your seat.
