City of Plainview News - Tips for Winter Water Conservation

Government and Politics

November 9, 2022

From: City of Plainview

The twice a week conservation water schedule for residents and businesses is still in effect. The conservation water schedule is year-round.

On the scheduled watering days, from October 1st through March 31st, citizens may water any time of day when temperatures are above 35° degrees Fahrenheit.

For businesses, industries, apartment complexes and parks, watering days are Monday and Thursday. For residents whose address ends in an even number (0,2,4,6 or 8), Tuesday and Saturday are the designated watering day. Residents with addresses ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9) may water on Wednesday and Sunday.

Also, in preparation for freezing temperatures, all sprinkler systems set to timers need to be readjusted - sprinkler systems ran during freezing weather can harm the system and make surfaces slick and dangerous.

Besides the twice a week conservation water schedule, the City will also implement other best management practices including a water conservation retrofit program, a leak detection and repair program, water loss control measures, requirements for water conservation landscape for new businesses or industry and universal metering and meter repair and replacement program.
