If you’re seeking a merry and magical holiday season, Yule find it here in Pompano Beach! The City will be aglow with sparkling lights and events galore! We hope you’ll bring your family and friends as we celebrate the holidays in a festive fashion!

The lovely holiday lights decorating The McNab House provide a glimpse of the beautiful site to come.  The plans for the restaurant and botanical gardens are blossoming, and now you can participate in selecting elements for the gardens including possible plants and flowers, types of playground and social gathering options, event ideas, and more. A public input meeting is scheduled for December 6th at 6:00 p.m. at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center, where Bermello, Ajamil and Partners (B&A) will host a dynamic presentation that will allow those in attendance to vote via their phone through a special app.

The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has accepted a proposal from executives from Mad Room Hospitality to design, revitalize, and operate the restaurant, wine bar, patio, and event space at the venue. Negotiations have commenced and we will keep you updated.

Mad Room Hospitality is the team behind renowned restaurant brands including Ball & Chain, Taquerias el Mexicano, Los Altos, and many more. In addition, the group was selected to renovate and reinvent the Mai Kai Restaurant and Polynesian Show after devastating water damage destroyed much of the iconic venue.

During the CRA Meeting on November 15th, Mad Room Hospitality showcased concepts for the restaurant which complement the architectural design of The McNab House, while bringing forth a coastal farmhouse style. The proposed menu will feature a modern twist on the farm-to-fork seasonal concept, while the Cellar at McNab House will emulate the allure of the 1920's era wine bar. The proposal also provided concepts for the patio courtyard and event space.

Light Up MLK was rained out on November 20th, but Santa has rescheduled! The beloved holiday tradition will now take place on Wednesday, November 30th, at the newly refurbished Annie Adderly Gillis Park, with festivities beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the official tree lighting ceremony occurring at 7:00 p.m. Sounds of the holidays will ring throughout the neighborhood and will include a variety of local community-based performances. Enjoy food and beverages plus a variety of interactive holiday themed activities, including a chance to tell Santa how good you have been!

City officials recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to re-open the park and this will be the first major event since the renovation transformed it into a beautiful public space. The park now boasts many new features including a courtyard, lush landscaping and trees, shade structures, lighting, walking paths, exercise equipment, street furniture and more. The newly conceived layout of the park features a designated location for the annual Light Up MLK holiday event to continue the park’s cherished tradition. The renovation was funded by the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) after obtaining feedback from the community about their vision for the park.

Long-time resident and community volunteer, Annie Adderly Gillis, lit the tree at the first event in 2010, and in 2011 after she passed away, the City dedicated the park in her honor. In her 98 years, Mrs. Gillis’ contributions to the community were enormous, and her impact will continue to be celebrated with the modernization of this appealing park.

We are ringing in another holiday season with the Yuletide on Atlantic Parade! The festivities will occur on Thursday, December 1st, at 6:30 p.m. starting from Riverside Drive, heading west on Atlantic Boulevard. Join us for a dizzying display of eye dazzling floats, marching bands, dancers and a variety of other amazing entertainment, including the big guy, Santa, himself!

Rain date: December 9th
