Your Sustainability Newsletter is Back!

Hi Everybody,

My name is Owen Kerslake and I'm the new AmeriCorps VISTA member working with the City of Sedona. I'm very excited to pick up where Gabe left off and bring you local sustainability news every month. Our goals here are to keep you updated on our team's projects, share important community events, and help connect you to volunteer opportunities with our fantastic partner organizations. Be sure to fill out the survey in this issue to let us know what else you would like to get out of the newsletter!

Now that we've gotten introductions out of the way, let's talk about some of the exciting things going on this month!

Event: Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

Come see us at Sedona City Hall on Saturday, October 8th from 8am to Noon for our annual household hazardous waste disposal event. Over the past 3 years, we have collected over 75,000 pounds of household waste!

This free event is open to all residents within Sedona city limits and unincorporated areas of Yavapai County, and is a great chance to safely get rid of old electronics, cleaning supplies, propane tanks, and more.

Volunteers Wanted: Friends of the Forest

Passionate about conservation? Want to help visitors make the right decisions on our local trails? Consider working with Friends of the Forest at the Red Rock Ranger Station Visitor Center!

4 new volunteers are needed on weekends, no experience necessary. You will be trained on topics such as trail recommendations, Leave No Trace practices, trailhead shuttles, and proper off-highway-vehicle usage to make sure that visitors have the most sustainable and enjoyable experiences possible.

Follow the link below to become a member, and select "visitor information services" as one of your volunteering interests to be contacted for this opportunity.
