Public Comment Open for Age-Friendly Solana Beach Action Plan

The City has partnered with the San Diego State University Social Policy Institute, San Diego Foundation, and AARP to develop an Age-Friendly Program to implement changes that will make our community more livable for people of all ages, especially older adults. After conducting surveys, holding workshops, analyzing data, and asking for your input, the City has put together a complete Draft Age-Friendly Solana Beach Action Plan. As part of the ongoing development of this program, we invite you to review the draft plan and provide additional feedback/comments through March 14th. This Action Plan identifies the vision, goals, potential actions, and suggested time frames to make the City of Solana Beach a vibrant, equitable, livable community for all ages.

Home Organics Recycling Reminder

Recycling of organic waste is the next step to achieving California’s Zero Waste goals and together we can be a part of the solution. In addition to food scraps and landscape waste, food-soiled cardboard and paper products are also acceptable to place into your green organics cart. Additionally, paper bags, paper napkins, paper towels, paper plates, paper cups, paper and cardboard takeout containers and takeout boxes (with no plastic or wax coating, and with all metal removed), coffee filters, soiled pizza boxes, tissues and newspaper are all paper products that can be used to wrap or place your food scraps in before depositing them in your green organics cart.

Santa Fe Irrigation District Pipeline Construction

As a reminder, Santa Fe Irrigation District (SFID), the purveyor of water for a majority of the City of Solana Beach, is scheduling to upgrade the water pipeline system at the intersection of Lomas Santa Fe and El Viento, in Glenmont between El Viento and the water reservoir site (Larrick Resevoir), in Granados between El Viento and Cliff Street, and in Cliff Street between Granados and Glenmont. This work is necessary to replace older water pipes that have exceeded their useful life. This project is scheduled to start in early March and will last until November 2023, weather permitting. Due to this significant construction activity which involves heavy equipment and roadway trenching, parts of the roadway segments mentioned above will be partially closed during typical construction hours (7:00 am to 3:30 pm). Additionally, some of these roadway segments will be fully closed for limited hours. Appropriate directional signage and construction personnel will facilitate vehicular movement through the area. In the event that construction might block access to residential driveways, residents will be notified 3 days in advance
