The Great California ShakeOut!

It’s always a good time to prepare for an earthquake, because what we do to prepare now will determine how well we can survive and recover from the next big earthquake. Join us and millions of people across California on Thursday, October 20th at 10:20 AM, to participate in the largest earthquake drill ever, the Great California ShakeOut.  

The goal of the Great ShakeOut is to save lives and prevent disasters from becoming catastrophes. Earthquakes can happen anytime and anywhere you work, live, or travel, which is why everyone, everywhere should know how to protect themselves should an earthquake occur. The Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill is our chance to practice together and to inspire others to become prepared.

2023 Business Certificate Renewals

Business certificate renewal forms are in the mail! All City of Solana Beach 2022 business certificates will expire December 31, 2022. Those holding an active 2022 business certificate will be receiving a renewal form in the mail with instructions and payment information. The city currently does not have an option to renew or take payments online, but we are working on it! If you do not receive a renewal form by November 1st, please send an email to [email protected] to request one.

La Colonia Park Pickleball Court Temporarily Closed

The pickleball court at La Colonia Park is temporarily closed so that the court can be resurfaced and striped to make use of the recently expanded playing surface. During this closure of the court, the concrete will have a sports court playing surface applied and new court lines will be painted.

It is expected that the court will reopen for use on Tuesday October 25, 2022. The court will reopen for use earlier if possible, but the reopening may also be delayed if unforeseen circumstances arise. Please note that the construction schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather and availability of materials.

San Dieguito Lagoon Restoration Construction

Caltrans and SANDAG North Coast Corridor (NCC) crews will begin pile driving operations within the San Dieguito Lagoon in the City of San Diego. This work is part of phase II of the San Dieguito Lagoon Wetland Restoration project. 

The pile driving operation will begin on Monday, October 24th at 6:00 AM and will be completed Friday, November 25th at 6:00 PM. NCC crews will observe 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM working hours, Monday – Friday throughout the stated limits. Nearby residents, businesses and visitors can expect daytime construction noise and lights, including OSHA required vehicle back-up alarms, and construction equipment in and around the lagoon basin. Crews will work to minimize noise and impacts to all nearby communities.
