City of Tempe - Businesses: Host a Summer Intern at No Cost! Deadline Closing Soon

Want access to talented interns this summer, at no cost to your business? Career Ready Tempe is looking for businesses to host Tempe youth to help prepare them for the future workforce. The deadline to apply is March 15. 
Career Ready Tempe connects youth to college and career readiness support by partnering with Tempe employers to provide paid internship opportunities in fields that are in-demand. The program is a collaborative effort between the City of Tempe and the Tempe Chamber Foundation.

Internships will be held during June and July 2023. Students are compensated by the Career Ready Tempe program, at no cost to participating businesses. Career Ready Tempe staff will monitor and coordinate with interns/businesses throughout the process to ensure smooth implementation.

Businesses interested in hosting an intern should submit a Career Ready Business Application by Wednesday, March 15.

-Opportunity to fill the opportunity and skills gap while helping low-income youth break cycles of poverty

-Opportunity to participate in the Career Ready Tempe interview/selection process

-Business exposure/ visibility within the City of Tempe

-Support in on-boarding, selecting and preparing students for your internship opportunity

-Opportunity to select 3 Edge soft skills training modules for interns to complete prior to beginning their internship

-Opportunity to participate in an orientation program to learn best practices for working with youth

Are you a student looking to get involved? Tempe sophomores and juniors are eligible for the program.

Student interns will receive in-person training from Arizona@Work and will complete 6 online soft skills training courses through Arizona State University’s Edge program in the areas of customer service, leadership and personal development. Certificates, which can be added to the student’s resume, are available for all successfully completed Edge modules.

Student interns will also be matched with a College Connect Advisor who will provide students guidance in navigating their career and educational goals.
