Time To Vote!

Friends!

In just a few days, it will be time to head to the polling places and vote. This action is undoubtedly one of our greatest responsibilities as American citizens. I am proud to say that I have voted in every election since I turned 18 years of age!  I’ll never forget the first time I filled out my ballot. After submitting my ballot, voting imbued me with a sense that I was making a difference in my community.

I always encourage our youth to register to vote as soon as they legally can.  At first, many are hesitant. They feel that they can’t have an impact by voting. Once they do vote, however, the opposite feeling emerges inside them. They call or email me after they vote and repeat one phrase in our conversations: “I feel like I made a difference.”

This November, there are several critical ballot initiatives for City of Tempe residents to decide on. Please take some time to research these initiatives. No matter if you’re a Democrat, Republican, or independent, your vote counts. Your vote matters. Your vote is important. There is power in numbers!

The door to my office in Tempe City Hall is always open. Please feel free to contact my office with any questions or concerns at 480-350-8748 or email me at [email protected].

With love,
Berdetta

Getting an Education on ALL Things Education!

Even with a torrential rainstorm taking place, more than 50 Tempe residents attended my second "Breakfast with Berdetta" community gathering event.  Our theme for his get-together was "All Things Education."  Esteemed Arizona education leaders such as Tempe Union High School District Superintendent Kevin Mendivil, Tempe Elementary No. 3 Superintendent James Driscoll, and leaders from the Kyrene Elementary School District participated in a fruitful panel discussion

"Breakfast with Berdetta" No. 3 is coming right up!

Our next “Breakfast with Berdetta” gathering will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3.  More details to come soon!
