City of Tempe earns Certified Autism Center™ designation

To create more inclusive and welcoming spaces for community members and visitors, the City of Tempe has earned the Certified Autism Center™ designation, awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
 
This designation is presented to organizations that complete a training and certification process to better understand and serve autistic and sensory sensitive individuals. The participating departments from the City of Tempe include Tempe Police Department; Tempe Fire Medical Rescue; Employee Development; Kid Zone Enrichment Program; and Community Services, which encompasses Arts & Culture, Parks & Recreation and the Tempe Public Library.

Hayden's Ferry Days returns this year with a weekend of events celebrating the rich history, arts and culture of Tempe.

Friday, March 3, 6-8:30 p.m: Legends Gala Reception at historic Petersen House
Tempe History Society celebrates the “Legends” of Tempe – both living and historic members of the community who have made a difference in Tempe. Purchase tickets.

Sunday, March 5, noon-4 p.m: Hayden's Ferry Days Festival at the Tempe History Museum Plaza
This free community festival brings Tempe heritage to life with local music performances and diverse 'show-and-tell' demonstrations featuring the technology and crafts that defined our past and inform the present. The event will host a variety of food trucks, local vendors, children's activities and historical reenactments.
