TONIGHT at 6 p.m.: Learn about water, wastewater and stormwater rate study recommendations and provide input during a public meeting at the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Road. View recommendations and provide input through Nov. 22 at tempe.gov/UtilityRateStudy.

The City of Tempe is deepening its commitment to providing comprehensive services to individuals experiencing homelessness while meeting community needs through an expanded HOPE outreach team, greater collaboration with crisis responders, increased data analysis and new opportunities for volunteers. Tempe has been enhancing its homeless response in recent months, driven by compassion and the city’s goal to make homelessness a rare, brief and one-time experience. Read more here.

Volunteer for HOPE

New regulations proposed for short-term (vacation) rental properties

Through Nov. 30, visit tempe.gov/forum to take an online survey about Tempe’s proposed new regulations for short-term rental properties. These include:

-Require an annual $250 regulatory permit

-Provide proof of a valid sales tax license and evidence the rental is registered with the Maricopa County Assessor’s Office

-Notify all residential properties adjacent to, directly, and diagonally across the property of their emergency contact information

-Conduct a sex offender background check for every person who books a rental – and possibly all those staying on the property, if permitted by law.

Citywide Food and Necessities Drive 

More than 25 area businesses located in every Tempe zip code are making it easy for you to help your neighbors in need with the Citywide Food and Necessities Drive. 

-Check the list of participating businesses and community organizations.

-Stop by your favorite ones anytime through Nov. 13.

-Drop off non-perishable food or items like shampoo, new socks and underwear.

-Feel good about helping your community by supporting National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week!

All donations will benefit hometown nonprofits and programs serving youth, adults and families in Tempe. Recipients include: Tempe Community Action AgencyThreadzCARE 7 and HOPE. This food drive is organized by the City of Tempe, Downtown Tempe Authority, Tempe Chamber of Commerce and Tempe Tourism Office.
