Three opportunities to speak on proposed Coyotes arena project coming soon

Several opportunities for community input on the proposed Tempe Entertainment District will be available through Nov. 29. 

The City of Tempe is currently negotiating with Bluebird Development LLC, the affiliate for the Meruelo Group and the Arizona Coyotes, regarding the proposed Tempe Entertainment District. The 46-acre site at the northeast corner of Priest Drive and Rio Salado Parkway is currently occupied by the City of Tempe municipal operations yard and offices. 

All meetings take place at Tempe City Council Chambers, 31 E. Fifth St. There are virtual attendance and participation options.

Did you know that Maricopa County Is the second largest voting jurisdiction in the country?

Tomorrow, Nov. 1, is the last day you can mail your ballot for the November General Election. After that, you may drop off your ballot at any of 220 locations in Maricopa County. You may also vote in person. On Nov. 8, Election Day, all Maricopa County Vote Centers are open from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. Get information about voting and find a location near you: elections.maricopa.gov/  

Friday: Homeless Solutions Business Update;
Launch of Citywide Food and Necessities Drive

Hear what the City of Tempe is doing to address homelessness for the business community and find out how you can get involved in the Citywide Food and Necessities Drive. 

Join Mayor Corey Woods on Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 a.m. at Tempe City Council Chambers for breakfast treats and a panel discussion featuring Tempe Police, HOPE, CARE 7, Tempe Human Services, Tempe Strategic Management and Tempe Economic Development.

Preventing homelessness is the first step to ending it. Through Nov. 8, businesses can sign up to be a donation location for the Citywide Food and Necessities Drive taking place Nov. 4-13.

The city’s Tempe PRE preschool program was recently honored by Education Forward Arizona for innovation in early learning. Councilmember Randy Keating accepted a North Star Award on the city’s behalf and was joined by staff with the city’s Office of Education, Career & Family Services and the program's education partner, Tempe Elementary School District Superintendent Dr. James Driscoll. The city launched Tempe PRE in August 2017 and since then, the program has served nearly 1,700 children ages 3 and 4. Learn more here and in this new video from Education Forward Arizona.

Tempe Union High School District is hosting open houses at each school as families prep for high school. Campus faculty, counselors, club sponsors, coaches and administrators will be on hand to answer questions about each school, its academic and extra-curricular programs, and the registration process.
