Tempe, AZ - Mayor Corey Woods' speech from the 2022 State of the City is available now for viewing.

The Tempe Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2022 Tempe State of the City Address on Friday, Dec. 2, at The Buttes hotel. This is the 24th year that a Tempe mayor has given this address in an effort to share the city’s accomplishments and provide a look ahead. The 20-minute speech spotlighted the city's leadership on issues including the Tempe Entertainment District, Refresh Tempe, affordable housing and unsheltered homelessness.

"Your priorities become your accomplishments," said Mayor Woods. "Adding more affordable and workforce housing is a priority for Tempe. We have been laser-focused on this for the past couple of years through Hometown for All and now have projects coming to life."

He also lauded the involvement of Tempe's community members to create a better city for everyone.

"It takes real leadership and vision to create change," he said. "Tempeans have never been shy about giving voice to what they think will make our city better. It’s that push for better that has led to our perfect score on the LGBTQ+ Municipal Equality Index for the last eight years, and that passion for doing what’s right instead of what’s easy is what makes our city an amazing place."

During the event, Silicon Valley Bank donated $5,000 to the Tempe Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee’s Toys for Tots Drive.
