In response to the needs of unsheltered persons, the Mayor and Council directed the Department of Housing and Community Development to create a resource telephone line which will provide City residents information on available services and shelter.

The phone line began service on June 1 and operates 24/7. City staff with the Department of Transportation and Mobility will take calls and provide information to callers.

“Thanks to the direction of Mayor and City Council Members, our community now can access resources and assistance for those who may be facing homelessness or currently without a roof over their head. We are a community that cares for one another, and this resource line is a reflection of that community care,” said Liz Morales, director of the Department of Housing and Community Development.

The resource line is useful for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness to get connected to resources for medical, mental health, meals, outreach, and other resources offered in our community.

“This is a great resource for those assisting someone who needs help connect to resources they may not otherwise hear or know about,” said Brandi Champion, the City’s Housing First Program director.?

The resource telephone number is (520) 791-2540.

The City of Tucson has increasingly focused more attention and resources on the most vulnerable members of our community. Faced with the challenges of the safety and health of unsheltered individuals and families, the City created the Housing First and the Community Safety, Health and Wellness programs, both a first for Tucson. In addition, the Department of Housing and Community Development has opened two shelters for those unsheltered and has staff dedicated to providing wrap-around services.

These programs, under the leadership of Mayor Regina Romero and Housing Director Morales, are key steps in bolstering services at all levels for all City residents.
