REGISTER FOR TUCSON PARKS AND RECREATION AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM - Registration opens soon for KIDCO Afterschool for the 2022-2023 school year. This program from Tucson Parks and Recreation offers safe and structured activities for youth. Planned activities may include sports, games, nutrition, fitness, arts and crafts, performing arts, and special events. Registration for year-round sites (Vail School District) began today, July 6. Registration for all other school year sites will begin Saturday, July 16, at 6 a.m., for City residents and at 8 a.m. for non-City residents. CELEBRATE PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH - July is National Park and Recreation Month, and the National Recreation and Park Association's (NRPA) theme this year is "We Rise Up for Parks and Recreation." The NRPA and Tucson Parks and Recreation are bringing attention to how important it is to rise up and support parks and recreation, because every day, parks and recreation professionals rise up for their communities in service of equity, climate-readiness, and overall health and well-being. The services that park and recreation professionals provide are vital for our communities, from protecting open space and natural resources to helping fight obesity and providing activities and resources for all people. Park and Recreation Month encourages everyone to reflect on the exponential value parks and recreation professionals bring to communities. Summer Poolooza

FREE SUMMER POOL PARTIES CONTINUE AT CITY POOLS - This month, Tucson Parks and Recreation is hosting "Summer Poolooza," free pool parties across the city in celebration of National Parks and Recreation Month. Events include Ready, Set, Rec! vans with games and activities (see story below), food, music, inflatables, pool fun, and more. Come and enjoy some fun in the sun. Pool parties will be held every Wednesday in July, from 5-7 p.m. (unless otherwise noted). To see a list of dates and locations, follow the link below. The next pool party is tonight, July 6, at Purple Heart Pool, 10050 E. Rita Road.

TUCSON WATER UPDATES REBATE PROGRAMS - Customers can now apply online for residential clothes washer and premium high-efficiency toilet rebates. This means no more paper and quicker processing times. You can apply at the link below. As of July 1, the residential toilet rebate increased to $100 per premium high-efficiency toilet for homes and buildings constructed before 2011. These toilets must be WaterSense certified, flush no more than 1.1 gallons, and receive high flush performance scores. The clothes washer rebate will now provide customers a $200 rebate only when replacing a top-load machine with a front-load clothes washer from the qualifying product list. Customers replacing a front-load machine or new customers not replacing a machine will be eligible for a $100 rebate. For questions, email [email protected], or call (520) 791-4331.

CITY OF TUCSON HIRES COMMUNITY SERVICES ADMINISTRATOR - Tucson's Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) recently announced the hiring of Donald Paredez as its new community services administrator. Paredez brings more than 20 years of experience in public housing management. As community services administrator, Paredez will develop and coordinate assisted housing, human services, and community development programs for low- and moderate-income individuals. Paredez’s goals include continuing the strong work of Tucson's public housing staff and programs, providing excellent service to the public and City staff, working toward more efficient operations, and collaborating on building more affordable housing.
