City Manager Submits Recommended Fiscal Year 2023 Budget - Tucson City Manager Michael Ortega submitted his Recommended Fiscal Year 2023 Budget to Mayor and Council yesterday, May 3. The fiscal year starts on July 1, 2022, and runs through June 30, 2023. A public hearing, as required by state law, will be held on Thursday, May 19, during Mayor and Council's 5:30 p.m. Regular Meeting. Final adoption of the structurally balanced budget will be on Tuesday, June 7, followed by the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2023 property tax levies.

'Moving Tucson' Annual Summit This Week - The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) is hosting the second annual "Moving Tucson Summit" on Friday, May 6. The free, one-day virtual conference will kickoff with keynote speaker Dr. Ivis Garcia Zambrana, who will be addressing housing and transportation equity and connecting with Tucson Mayor Regina Romero on how these issues relate to the City of Tucson and beyond. Additionally, panel sessions will bring local and national experts together for conversations centering around transportation services, safety improvements, urban planning, public spaces, and transit through an equitable lens. Tucson’s Housing And Community Development Department Program Receives Award - Thrive in the 05, a collaboration headed by the City of Tucson’s Housing and Community Development (HCD) department, and its partners received the 2022 Common Ground Award from the Metropolitan Pima Alliance (MPA). The award was presented last Friday, April 29, at the MPA's annual awards ceremony. HCD’s partners in Thrive in the 05 are ASU’s Office of Community Health, Engagement, and Resiliency; Pima Community College; the City’s Office of Economic Initiatives; San Ignacio (Old Pascua) Yaqui Council; The Planning Center; Mayor’s Office; Wards 1 and 3; Tucson Police Department; Tucson House Residents Council; and numerous nonprofit entities. MPA recognized Thrive in the 05 for its unique collaboration and commitment to improving the community and achieving common ground. The Thrive in the 05 program establishes partnerships and strategies to support public housing improvements, neighborhood and community investment, revitalization, economic development, and workforce training in the 85705 ZIP code, a 2.3-square-mile area along the North Oracle and Stone Avenue corridors and along West Miracle Mile.

Commission On Equitable Housing And Development Meeting Tomorrow - The City of Tucson’s Commission on Equitable Housing and Development (CEHD) meeting will take place virtually tomorrow, May 5, from 4-6 p.m. Key agenda items for this month's meeting include the introduction of the newest commission member, a presentation from Housing & Community Development for Arizona, and updates from subcommittees and the City of Tucson Housing and Community Development department.
