VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHING - The deadline to register to vote in Pima County's primary election is Tuesday, July 5. The election will be held Aug. 2. Voting will be a bit different this year with the addition of Vote Centers. Voters no longer have to cast ballots at their designated precincts and can vote in-person at any of the centers throughout Pima County. With "e-pollbooks," a voter will go to any Vote Center, present their identification, and a Vote Center staff member will use the e-pollbook to scan the Driver License, which is the most common form of identification, and bring up the voter’s information. Allowable alternative forms of identification can also be used to find the voter. The system will then send the voter’s information to a ballot printer to print a ballot specific to the precinct in which the voter lives. Everything else about voting at a Vote Center is the same as voting at a precinct polling location. See a related story below.

PIMA COUNTY TO HOLD MOCK ELECTION TO DEMONSTRATE VOTE CENTERS AND NEW VOTING EQUIPMENT - The Pima County Elections Department will hold a mock election this week to demonstrate how the County’s new Vote Centers and voting equipment work. A mock election is a non-partisan, educational event held for the benefit of the public and political parties. The mock election also will demonstrate voting procedures at Pima County’s Vote Centers. The mock election will be held Friday, June 24, from 9-11 a.m., at the Abrams Health Center, 3950 S. Country Club Road. The public will be able to participate in the mock election to experience the check-in process and other elements of Vote Center voting.

TUCSON PARKS AND RECREATION TRACK AND FIELD EVENTS TOMORROW - Tucson Parks and Recreation is hosting the annual Summer Track and Field and Road Races every Tuesday and Thursday in June and July. Track and Field events take place at Drachman Stadium, 501 S. Plumer Ave., every Tuesday, through July 19, beginning at 7 p.m. The cost is $3 per youth (17 years and younger) and $4 per adult (18 years and older).
