TUCSON VOTERS OVERWHELMINGLY APPROVE PROPOSITION 411 - Unofficial election results show City of Tucson voters approved Proposition 411, an extension of the existing half-cent sales tax for neighborhood street and safety improvements. The results from the election yesterday, May 17, show 52,884 voters chose to approve the proposition, while 19,149 voted against it. Funds generated from the sales tax extension will be invested to improve every local neighborhood street in Tucson over the next 10 years. The revenue also will fund street safety projects that benefit all users and modes, such as bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements, sidewalks, lighting, traffic signal technology, and traffic-calming infrastructure.

HELP REIMAGINE REID PARK - The City of Tucson is embarking on its master-planning process for Gene C. Reid Park. Rooted in conversations with the community and a rigorous understanding of the park’s physical conditions, the purpose of this master plan will be to arrive at a design that protects the best of Gene C. Reid Park while casting a vision for future improvements. A 10-minute, map-based survey, is now open to gather input about how the community uses the park and its priorities for the future. Parks and Recreation centers will have public access computers available for those in the community who need a computer or help with the survey. Follow the recreation centers news release link below for locations and times. Input will in?uence the design ideas that are generated. The survey will close on Tuesday, May 31, at 11:59 p.m. Community input is a critical component of the planning process, and this is just the first engagement opportunity of many for the broader Tucson community to share feedback.
