DEADLINE APPROACHING TO VOTE BY MAIL IN MAY 17 SPECIAL ELECTION - The last day to drop your ballot in the mail, to ensure it is received by the City Clerk’s Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day, is Wednesday, May 11. If you've already completed your early ballot for the Proposition 411 Special Election (extension of the existing half-cent sales tax for neighborhood street and safety improvements) and would like to drop it off instead of mailing it, you can do that now at four locations, through Election Day, May 17. The drop-off sites are at the Tucson City Clerk Election Center, 800 E. 12th St.; the Pima County Recorder's Downtown Office, 240 N. Stone Ave.; the Pima County Recorder's Eastside Office, 6920 E. Broadway Blvd.; and the Pima County Recorder's Election Department, 6550 S. Country Club Road. The drop-off hours at all locations are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays. On Election Day, the sites will be open from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. All vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the City Clerk’s Office either by mail or dropped off at any one of these locations by 7 p.m. on Election Day in order for your ballot to be counted.

ATTEND A TOWN HALL ON PROPOSITION 411 - As referenced above, the City of Tucson Special Election for Proposition 411 is Tuesday, May 17. The City is asking voters to extend the existing temporary half-cent sales tax that was approved by voters in 2017 and expires this year. If passed, the funds generated would be invested to improve every local neighborhood street in Tucson over the next 10 years. It would also fund street safety projects that benefit all users and modes, such as bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements, sidewalks, lighting, traffic signal technology, and traffic-calming infrastructure. If you haven't voted yet, you'll have a chance to listen to a presentation and ask questions before the May 11 deadline to mail in ballots. There will be an in-person/virtual town hall on Tuesday, May 10, at 5:30 p.m., at the El Pueblo Senior Center, 101 W. Irvington Road (multipurpose room). Ward 5 Council Member Richard Fimbres will provide an introduction at the meeting.

HELP REIMAGINE REID PARK - The City of Tucson is embarking on its master-planning process for Gene C. Reid Park. Rooted in conversations with the community and a rigorous understanding of the park’s physical conditions, the purpose of this master plan will be to arrive at a design that protects the best of Gene C. Reid Park, while casting a vision for future improvements. A 10-minute, map-based survey, is now open to gather input about how the community uses the park and its priorities for the future. Input will directly in?uence the design ideas that are generated. The survey will close on Tuesday, May 31, at 11:59 p.m. Community input is a critical component of the planning process, and this is just the first engagement opportunity of many for the broader Tucson community to share feedback.
