TUCSON POLICE DEPARTMENT TO GIVE AWAY TOYS SATURDAY - The Tucson Police Department (TPD), in partnership with Toys for Tots, will be holding its second annual TPD Toy Giveaway this Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The community drive-thru event will be held in the Geico parking lot, 3050 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. More than 15,000 toys will be given away, so help spread the word to get the toys to as many community children as possible. Registration is not required. Local nonprofits, faith-based organizations, schools, and community groups will also receive pallets of toys to give away. Additionally, all TPD divisions will have toys distributed to their vehicles to give out and have on hand as comfort items.

CURRENT PERMITTING SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE STARTING TODAY- The current permitting system for the City of Tucson will be unavailable starting today, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m., through Sunday, Oct. 30, as the City of Tucson transitions to the new permitting system, Tucson Development Center Online (TDC Online). TDC Online is a self-service portal that will provide customers with a completely online process. It will provide customers transparency throughout the permitting process, complete with email notifications and a personal dashboard to track applications from submittal to issuance. Current customers should note that only emergency permit applications will be accepted during the above dates. All other permit applications, as well as payments, will not be accepted. Customers can still schedule inspections via the interactive voice response (IVR) line by calling (520) 791-3111, from Oct. 21-28. The IVR line will be retired on Friday, Oct. 28, at 3:30 p.m. TDC Online will be available to customers on Monday, Oct. 31, at 7 a.m.

BOO BASH AT LINCOLN PARK THIS WEEKEND - Join Tucson Parks and Recreation for a fun-filled evening of tricks and treats at the Boo Bash at Lincoln Park, 4325 S. Pantano Road, Saturday, Oct. 22, from 4-7 p.m. Enjoy carnival games, trunk-or-treat, a costume parade, a haunted house, and more. Food will be available for purchase. SIXTH AVENUE ASPHALT ART BLOCK PAINTING PARTY SATURDAY - This Saturday, Oct. 22, Sixth Avenue will be transformed into a colorful mural between Armory Park and Children’s Museum Tucson. The Sixth Avenue Asphalt Art Block Painting Party will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and includes painting a mural spanning the center median between 12th and 13th streets, accompanied by planters and flex posts to calm traffic, improve connectivity and enhance safety and comfort for everyone using the street. Tucsonans are invited to join the Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) and Living Streets Alliance for music, food, and activities for all ages. This project is made possible in part through a Bloomberg Philanthropies Asphalt Art Initiative grant program.
