REID PARK REIMAGINED OPEN HOUSE THIS WEEKEND - Join Tucson Parks and Recreation for a fun and informative open house on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 5-7 p.m., at the Reid Park DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center. Celebrate what makes Reid Park special today and imagine what it could be in the future. The Reid Park Master Plan team will present three concept alternatives for the future of the park and ask for community feedback. Attend the meeting to learn about the alternatives, ask questions, meet experts, offer feedback, and enjoy entertainment. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. The three Reid Park concept alternatives are based on community input and are imaginative proposals about the park's services, amenities, features, and layout. The goal of Phase 2 is to bring together the best parts of each concept alternative to create a visionary Reid Park that meets the needs of Tucson over the next 50 years. You can see the three concept alternatives on the project websites linked below in English and Spanish.

ARIZONA LEGISLATURE COMMITTEE TO HOLD HOUSING HEARING IN TUCSON NEXT WEEK - The Arizona Legislature's Housing Supply Study Committee will hold a hearing in Tucson on Monday, Sept. 12, from 1-3 p.m., in Mayor and Council Chambers at Tucson City Hall, 255 W. Alameda St., in Downtown Tucson. The agenda will have a Call to the Audience item. The committee is holding hearings at the State Capitol and across Arizona. After those hearings, it will make recommendations to the full Arizona Legislature on how the state can increase the housing supply in Arizona. The City of Tucson, like many Arizona cities, aims to balance the need for additional housing units with the need to protect existing neighborhoods, neighborhood quality-of-life, and existing property values. Zoning rules and city policies that require public input help mayors and councils seek that balance in the cases that come before them. Reducing or removing local authorities and neighborhood input in zoning or land use regulations could raise significant issues for Tucson neighborhoods.
