From: City Of TucsonThe City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department will open two pools on Sunday, June 26, in addition to the 10 pools that opened earlier this summer. On June 2, the department was only able to open 10 summer pools in response to a lifeguard shortage. Earlier this month, the City increased the lifeguard pay to $16.75/hour and continued to hold lifeguard certification classes in hopes of hiring additional lifeguards to open more pools. Due to these strong efforts, the department has been able to add enough lifeguards to open Oury and Palo Verde pools. Their schedule is as follows:
Oury Pool, 665 N Hughes Street (opens Sunday, June 26)
Hours: Sunday-Wednesday from Noon-6 p.m.
Palo Verde Pool, 355 S. Mann Ave. (opens Wednesday, June 29)
Hours: Wednesday-Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.
Entrance to City pools will remain free throughout the summer. For more information on pool locations and hours, visit the Tucson Parks and Recreation website.
