PetSafe® brand announced that Tucson was named to be a recipient of a 2022 Bark for Your Park™ grant award for $25,000 to build and enhance a new dog park at Lincoln Park. This year’s grant contest launched in early May, and entries to build a new park or provide a makeover to an existing park were gathered from across the country. Tucson entered to win funds for a new dog park at Lincoln Park.

Finalists were chosen on the level of enthusiasm and support for a dog park project and the impact such a project would have on the community. Following the submission period, 30 finalists were selected to participate in the contest voting period from August 1-31. Tucson residents participated in voting every day in order to solidify Tucson as one of four communities with the most votes pursuing a new dog park. Each community will receive $25,000.

"I am thrilled Tucson Parks and Recreation won the Bark for Your Park Grant,” said Ward 4 Council Member Nikki Lee. “We are trying to do something unique and special with this dog park and the $25,000 will allow us to do that."

The new, 3-acre-plus dog park will be located at Lincoln Park, 8330 E. Escalante Road. This will mark the City of Tucson’s 10th dog park. It is planned to be three separate turf areas, so that the maintenance of the park can rotate without affecting access to the dog park. With this grant, the City will be able to add more amenities the community is requesting, like shade structures, more trees for shade, better fencing to keep local wildlife out, and fun amenities that the dogs can enjoy, making this dog park different than any other dog park in the city. Construction will start in November of this year and is expected to be completed by summer 2023.
