SUN TRAN OPEN HOUSES CONTINUE - Sun Tran is hosting a series of open house events where the public can learn about and provide feedback on transit policies and fares. The next meeting will be held today, July 13, from 5-6 p.m., at Miller Golf Links Library, 9640 E. Golf Links Road. There will be another meeting tomorrow, July 14, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., at the Ward 1 Council Office, 940 W. Alameda St. A virtual meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 21. Spanish and English-speaking representatives will be available at the meetings.

READ THE LATEST TUCSON DELIVERS PROGRESS REPORT - Follow the progress of the voter-approved Tucson Delivers - Proposition 101: Safer City, Better Streets half-cent sales tax program; and Proposition 407: Parks + Connections Bond program. Of the $250 million projected to be collected from the Proposition 101 half-cent sales tax (2018-2022), $100 million is dedicated to the Better Streets initiative, with 40 percent dedicated to neighborhood street improvements. The Safer City initiative provides $150 million for vehicles, equipment, and facilities for the Tucson Fire and Police departments. The Parks + Connections Bond (2019-2028) provides $225 million to improve City park amenities, including playgrounds, sports fields, pools, and splash pads. Connection projects include greenways and shared-use paths, pedestrian safety and walkability, and bicycle boulevards. TUCSON PARKS AND RECREATION CELEBRATES PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH BY RECOGNIZING CONTRIBUTION TO YOUTH EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES (VIDEO) - July is National Park and Recreation Month and the National Recreation and Park Association and Tucson Parks and Recreation are bringing attention to how important it is to support parks and recreation. Every day, park and recreation professionals show up for their communities in service of equity, climate readiness, and overall health and well-being. Park and recreation agencies across the country are among the biggest employers of youth. This summer, Tucson Parks and Recreation employs 99 young adults in essential positions, not only for the community, but as a jumping-off point for their careers. Those jobs include lifeguards and recreation workers for summer camps and the Ready, Set, Rec! program.

SIGN UP FOR SLOWPITCH SOFTBALL -Tucson Parks and Recreation is accepting registrations for the Fall Adult Slowpitch Softball Leagues from now until Friday, July 22. You can register online at the website linked below or in person at the Sports Unit, 920 S. Randolph Way. Call the Sports Unit at (520) 791-4870 for more information and other registration options. The season begins Monday, Aug. 8.
