Two Public Housing Meetings This Week - Public housing-related meetings will be held today, Oct. 19, and tomorrow, Oct. 20. The Affordable Housing Committee of the Commission on Equitable Housing and Development (CEHD) will meet virtually today, from 4-6 p.m., via Zoom. Tomorrow, the full commission will also meet virtually, from 4-6 p.m. Public participation is welcome. Past meeting recordings, materials, and information can be found at the commission’s website linked below.

City Of Tucson Issues Latest Climate Action Report - The latest Climate Action Report catches up with the Climate Action and Adaptation outreach team and the Office of Equity to explore their meaningful planning processes to create effective and long-lasting policies and programs that address environmental injustice. Each month, the feature story dives deeper into the efforts across the city to move us closer to Mayor and Council's goal of carbon neutrality by 2030. The October Climate Action Report also includes an update on the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, a video on youth climate dialogue, solar information, and a link to learn more about Cyclovia Tucson on Sunday, Oct. 30.

Learn More About Arizona's Electric Vehicle Charging Plan - The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will hold an open house in Tucson tonight, Oct. 19, to kickoff a series of public meetings about its plan to install a network of fast-charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) along interstate highways. The gathering is from 5-7 p.m. at the Wyndham Cactus Ballroom, 777 W. Cushing St. ADOT's study team will be on hand to provide information and answer questions, and a recording will be released later. Meanwhile, the City of Tucson has its own Electric Vehicle and Infrastructure Plan, adopted in April 2021, which is an integral component of Mayor and Council’s adopted EV Readiness Roadmap. Since the Roadmap was adopted, staff has ordered 25 EVs using different funding sources. The City also is moving forward with the planning, design, and deployment of EV charging infrastructure at various municipal facilities. Staff is working with the Tucson Electric Power Rebate Program to help fund these improvements.

Tucson Parks And Recreation Pays Applicants To Get Lifeguard Certification - Are you or someone you know looking for a part-time job? Tucson Parks and Recreation is hiring lifeguards to operate and maintain the safety at City pools year-round. The minimum age to be a lifeguard is 15 years old. Pay starts at $16.75/hour. The City will pay applicants to get their lifeguard certification through the City’s certification path. The lifeguard class is an intense, fast-paced course, and strong swim skills are required. All applicants must pass a swim test to qualify. For more information on becoming a lifeguard or to register for the swim test, follow the links below.

Funny Man John Mulaney Comes To Tucson Friday - Comedian John Mulaney brings his "From Scratch" tour to the Tucson Arena this Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. Mulaney is a two-time Emmy and Writers Guild of America award-winning writer, actor, and comedian. Tickets start as low as $23 (before taxes and fees) and can be bought at Ticketmaster or the Tucson Convention Center Ticket Office, 260 S. Church Ave. The use of phones will not be permitted in the performance space. Upon arrival at the venue, phones will be secured in individual Yondr pouches that will be opened at the end of the event. Guests maintain possession of their devices at all times and can access them throughout the event only in designated areas at the arena. All devices will be re-secured in the pouches before returning to the performance space.
