View Three Concept Plans For Gene C. Reid Park And Provide Feedback - The Gene C. Reid Park planning team needs your help to reimagine the future of Reid Park. Survey Two for the Reid Park planning process is now live at the English and Spanish links below. View the three park concept alternatives, and take a feedback survey to provide input into the final master plan. The survey will close on Friday, Sept. 30, at 11:59 p.m. The Master Plan will provide an aspirational roadmap for Gene C. Reid Park's long-term evolution. The plan will be used to help guide future investments in the park with the confidence that they fit into a larger strategic vision. Having a park Master Plan is important to ensure that available resources are allocated efficiently and to the items of the highest priority. As future/ongoing reinvestments in the park are made, different funding sources will be used, as appropriate, for the project. State, federal, and local grants; private and nonprofit partnerships; and bonds are all likely sources of funding for capital improvements. Tucson Parks and Recreation will host an open house to discuss the plans on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 5-7 p.m., at the Reid Park DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center. We'll have more on that event in tomorrow's NewsNet.

Tucson Stair Climb Challenge This Weekend - The annual 9/11 Tower Challenge will take place this Sunday, Sept. 11, at 8 a.m., at the Tucson Arena, 260 S. Church Ave. The event honors those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and honors first responders and military personnel who protect us from foreign and domestic threats. The World Trade Center's Twin Towers each consisted of 110 floors and 2071 steps, and each year thousands of people across Arizona walk, climb, and run the stairs to remember that day. Firefighters in full gear, police, military, and bomb squad personnel march steadily alongside civilians of varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Registration for the in-person and virtual challenge is closed now, but will reopen at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 11, lasting until 9 a.m.
