Government and Politics

August 24, 2023

From: City Of Gaithersburg

Survey Available through October 1

Gaithersburg, MD - The City of Gaithersburg is in the process of developing new parking permit regulations and updates to the City Code. Feedback is sought from residents to learn about existing neighborhood parking conditions. A survey is available online here through October 1, 2023.

The Permit Parking Program will consolidate the variety of existing City Parking Permits, including Residential Permit Parking, Commercial Permit Parking, The Crossings Permit Program, Commuter Permit Parking, and Temporary Permit Parking, into one program.

The project will also amend Section 14-17A, Residential Parking Permit Areas, of the City Code and will establish Parking Permit Regulations that include criteria for neighborhood eligibility, procedures to establish, modify, or remove permitted areas, and procedures for registering, issuing, and purging old permits.

City Code changes and new Parking Permit Regulations will be presented to the Mayor and City Council for review and approval in the spring of 2024, with an anticipated implementation date in mid–2024.
