Announcement about our Executive Director

The Connecticut Audubon Society extends its best wishes to Executive Director Patrick Comins as he moves on to his next chapter. Patrick’s accomplishments in his six years as executive director include an expansion of Connecticut Audubon’s habitat improvement and restoration work, which now encompasses more than 20 projects; an increase in issue advocacy in Hartford and Washington D.C.; and the acquisition earlier this year of Stratford Point as Connecticut Audubon’s newest sanctuary. Chief Operating Officer Joyce Leiz will serve as interim executive director, and a search will begin for a permanent replacement.

You spoke out and your elected officials heard!

Congratulations for convincing the General Assembly in Hartford to pass a ban on horseshoe crab fishing.

The bill awaits the Governor's signature. The result is likely to help both horseshoe crabs and the shorebirds that rely on their eggs as a source of food.
