Midland, MI - Join Creative 360 for the Piece by Piece Exhibition Opening Reception. The juried exhibition features art that has been created "piece by piece," and includes mosaic, assemblage, collage, quilting, and more.
Sarah Lippert, Ph.D, director of the visual arts program at the University of Michigan-Flint served as juror of the exhibit entries. She is an associate professor of art history and a faculty member for the art, art history, M.A. in Arts Administration and the Women and Gender Studies programs. Lippert is also the director of the Society for Paragone Studies, a non-profit academic association that collaborates with the Flint Institute of Arts.
The Piece by Piece exhibition is part of a year-long innovative community-based program to engage, entertain, educate, stimulate and involve all ages and populations form the Great Lakes Bay Region in a year of programming in folk, outsider, visionary and mosaic art experiences. More than 40 events and classes began in fall 2014 and will continue through May 2015.
Also during this time, creative members of the community are working together to plan and design Creative 360's outdoor space which will eventually house the John Pratt Mosaic art. Sculptural and functional surfaces are being prepared for groups and individuals to help complete community-based mosaic art applications.
May through October 2015, participants from the general public, boys and girls clubs, garden clubs, at-risk youth from Juvenile Care Centers, Salvation Army summer camps, alternative high schools, classes with youth with special needs, The Arc, area schools, Midland Artists Guild, senior residences, churches, Delta College Possible Dream students, Creative 360's summer camps and families and individuals are all invited to participate by adding piece by piece to the mosaic art designs.

Opening Reception: Friday, February 13, 2015 from 7 - 8:30 p.m.
On exhibit through April 24, 2015.
