Government and Politics

PENNSYLVANIA — As David McCormick tries to distract from his lies about where he’s from and where he lives, here’s what you need to know: McCormick was exposed in a New York Times report for his claims that he was raised on a farm, when the truth is he was raised in a mansion while his family raised Arabian horses on a nearby farm.

McCormick also faced criticism for pretending to be a Pennsylvania farmer earlier this year.

Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson TaNisha Cameron issued the following statement:

“David McCormick has been caught trying to deceive Pennsylvanians about where he lives, how much time he spends in Pennsylvania, and even growing up on a farm. It’s disqualifying for McCormick to continue lying about his record and his background — Pennsylvanians can’t trust a word he says.”

McCormick has repeatedly lied about growing up on a family farm in Pennsylvania.

McCormick said he was a farmer despite spending most of his career as the CEO of the world’s largest hedge fund.

  • “During a roundtable discussion in Clarks Summit, Penn. on Tuesday, Republican Senate candidate David McCormick designated himself a farmer despite his history as a white-collar hedge fund CEO. […] ‘And finally, as a farmer that’s got a big farm in Columbia County, stop the strategic purchase of farmland by China across the United States,’ McCormick said at a Building America’s Future PAC event.” [Heartland Signal, 2/16/24]
