The Doris K. Wells Heritage Festival Starts Now!

Now in its 40th year, the Doris K. Wells Heritage Festival brings two months of programs and events that celebrate DeKalb's diverse communities and cultures. Learn about the festival and see what's in store by clicking here. December highlights:

 - Legends of Cherokee History – Wednesday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Toco Hill-Avis G. Williams Library.

 - Gullah Tales & Stories of Strength and Perseverance – Saturday, December 9 at 1:00 p.m. at County Line-Ellenwood Library.

 - First Fruits, Family and Community – A Kwanzaa Celebration. Monday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Flat Shoals Library.

 - Frederick Douglas Reese Foundation Discussion and Exhibit – Saturday, December 23 at 11:00 a.m. at County Line-Ellenwood Library.    

Holiday Hours

All branches will be closed:

 - Monday, December 25 for Christmas Day.
 - Monday, January 1, 2024 for New Year's Day.

Swing in the Holiday Season with a Jazz Concert

Welcome the holiday season with glad tidings and festive music with a performance by Bright Moments Jazz Duo with Kim and Dave Chamberlain. The live concert happens on Tuesday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Northlake-Barbara Loar Library. Find more information here.

We are thrilled to be a part of Callanwolde Fine Arts Center’s Winter House. Join us at the DCPL mini library for Storytime with Ellen Gadberry at 3:00 p.m. on December 9 and 10.

Consider a Gift to the Library

When you support the library, you are supporting your community. Gifts to the DeKalb Library Foundation allowed DCPL to host more than 250 special programs attended or viewed by more than 8,000 children, teens and adults this year. Initiatives such as 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, Take the Internet Home with You and the Summer Reading Program receive support from the DeKalb Library Foundation. Make a donation by December 31 to support library programs in 2024. Click this link to donate today.

Rebecca Ross Author Talk and Book Signing

Georgia Center for the Book and Little Shop of Stories will welcome New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Ross for a celebration of the conclusion of the Epic Letters of Enchantment duology. She will discuss her new book Ruthless Vows with Roshani Chokshi at First Baptist Church Decatur on January 2, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Register for this free event here.
