DFL Statement on CD2 GOP Convention Results

Government and Politics

April 27, 2024

ST PAUL – On April 27th, following Tayler Rahm’s victory at the CD2 GOP Convention, Minnesota DFL Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement:

“On April 27th, Republican delegates endorsed a rubber stamp for their MAGA agenda. And in Tayler Rahm, they have also chosen a defender of the indefensible – someone who has profited from people’s pain defending violent criminals and sex offenders. In Congress, Tayler Rahm would be a rubber stamp for congressional Republicans as they push for a national abortion ban, seek even more special interest tax breaks for the big drug companies, and make devastating cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

“Joe Teirab’s decision to pursue a costly and divisive GOP primary challenge will give Angie Craig a strong contrast between the bipartisan wins she has delivered for her district and her two MAGA opponents. No matter which MAGA rubber stamp emerges from the August primary, the DFL will be ready to hold them accountable for their far-right extremism.”

Rahm is a criminal defense attorney who lives in Burnsville. Rahm is endorsed by former Congressman Jason Lewis, former CD2 GOP candidate Mike Murphy and Action 4 Liberty.

Joe Teirab is a former U.S. Attorney who lived in Minnetonka until very recently. He sits on the board of New Life Family Services, a non-profit organization that runs several anti-abortion centers in Minnesota. He was named as a priority candidate for both the National Republican Congressional Committee and the Congressional Leadership Fund, a top Republican-aligned super PAC.

On April 26th, Congresswoman Craig was endorsed by the Minnesota Police & Peace Officers Association (MPPOA).
