JOHNSON CITY - Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger nominated conservative leader and physician Turney Williams for the prestigious 2022 Statesman of the Year award.

Every year, the Republican Party of Tennessee hosts the annual Statesman's Dinner dinner where they honor the contributions of conservative champions like Dr. Williams.

“Turney has been a tireless leader in our party and in our community. From 2017 to 2021 Turney served as Chairman of the Washington County Republican Party. Under his leadership, Washington County Republicans had commanding victories in local, state, and federal races.

Aside from serving as Party Chairman, Turney also found time to support individual candidates and their campaigns across North East Tennessee by hosting events, organizing volunteers, and turning out the vote.

Outside of his political advocacy, Dr. Williams has served the Tri-Cities as a Physician for decades. Turney is the Chairman of the Tennessee Medical Society Legislative Committee and serves on the Board of the Washington County Humane Society.
