Dixon Family Services is Getting Ready for a Busy Fall Season

Once again you have an opportunity to support DFS and our mission to improve lives.

There are many families who need our help right here in Dixon. 

Dear Friends and Partners, 

Each year at this time we start to prepare for an increase in needs of human services programs in the fall and winter.  Usually the summer months are comparably “quieter”, but this summer was different.  People have steadily reached out to us for our assistance for 2 ½ years, since Covid-19 began. 

The greatest need has been for help with rent.  Next are utilities and food. *  

The current cost of living and high prices of basic necessities are of major concern for many parents.  Households that were “surviving by living paycheck-to-paycheck” pre-Covid, and pre-inflation, find themselves in need of government benefits and other support systems they never thought they’d have to use.  There are programs available, but most have confusing application processes.

Navigating these systems is what we have been doing the most since 2020, guiding people through the complicated steps required to access rental assistance and other help they never needed before. 

We are so grateful for our partnerships and support, making it possible for us to be here for those who need us, when they need us.  Can we count on you now, again, to take this opportunity to join us in our mission to improve lives in our community?  Our services have never been more vital and we ask for your support on behalf of the people we serve.

And remember, if someone you know needs our help, please suggest they call us at 707-678-0442.  We will take it from there.  We expect our basic needs assistance for rent, utilities, food and other necessities to be a continued need for many families for some time to come.  With the support of our community, we will keep doing all we can to help stabilize households, motivated by our overarching goal to ensure that all children are safe, healthy and thriving in their homes.

We are blessed with support from our community partners, foundation grants, businesses, churches, service organizations, and individual donors.  We post “shout-outs” to all of our supporters on DFS Facebook and Instagram.  Check us out.  We also try to keep our current events, services and those of our fellow service agencies posted as well.  And we are always hoping to foster new partnerships.

Dixon Family Services is the community-based organization serving Dixon and the surrounding rural areas since 1984.  Our one-stop-shop of social services helps hundreds of people each year achieve goals such as employment, financial stability, improved nutrition, emotional wellness, positive parenting skills, and family cohesiveness.  Many are now active and giving members of this community.
