LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers add infielder/outfielder Joey Gallo to active roster.

Gallo, 28, was acquired yesterday from the New York Yankees in exchange for minor league pitcher Clayton Beeter. On the season, he is hitting .159 (37-for-222) with 12 homers and 24 RBI in 82 games for the Yankees. The two-time All-Star has been in the Major Leagues parts of eight seasons with Texas (2015-2021) and New York (2021-22), recording 170 homers and 363 RBI with a career OPS of .801. Last season, between Texas and New York, he slashed a combined .199/.351/.458 with 38 homers, 77 RBI and won his second consecutive Rawlings’ Gold Glove. In the last three seasons as a full-time outfielder, he has 28 defensive runs saved in 2245.2 innings on the field with a .985 fielding percentage and 19 outfield assists and winning back-to-back Gold Gloves in 2020 and 2021. He was originally drafted by the Texas Rangers with the 39th overall pick in the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Bishop Gorman High School.
