DPNM Celebrates Earth Day from One of the Most Breathtaking Places on the Planet

The Democratic Party of New Mexico released the following statement in celebration of Earth Day:

Happy Earth Day! In New Mexico, we may take it for granted that we live in one of the most breathtaking places on Earth. From White Sands, Shiprock, the Gila Wilderness, Carlsbad Caverns, the Rio Grande Valley, and so many more natural treasures, we are lucky that no one in our state has to go far to see why we are the Land of Enchantment.

Being in this land of one-of-a-kind landscapes, ecosystems, and wilderness means we have a responsibility to protect its health and prosperity for all future generations, and Democrats continue leading the way in conservation efforts and combating climate change.

In New Mexico, Democrats are transitioning to a clean energy economy and workforce, holding the oil and gas industry accountable with firm and responsible regulations, and in the last legislative session, enacted a clean fuel standard and first-of-its-kind Land of Enchantment Legacy Fund for permanent funding of ecosystem, water, and land conservation.

President Biden has made unprecedented investments in clean energy jobs and infrastructure and restored many of the environmental protections reversed by Trump and national Republicans. When he was president, Trump surrounded himself with climate change deniers, reversed regulations, removed the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement, and gave billions in handouts to big oil. The consequences would be catastrophic for climate, ecosystems, and wildlife if Trump gets another term.
