CONGRATULATIONS:

• Madeira Middle School is sending four students to the Ohio High School Athletic Association's (OHSAA) Inaugural Jr. High Track and Field State Championships on May 13 in Lancaster, Ohio. The 4x100 relay team of MMS eighth graders Sophia Davenport, Brooke Schomaeker, Marielle Thon, and seventh grader Chloe Torggler is currently ranked in 13th place with a time of 53.67. Sophia Davenport is also ranked in 3rd place for the 200m hurdles with a time of 30.45 seconds. The 10 running events and 5 field events will be held at Lancaster High School, 1312 Granville Pike, Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Field events will begin at 10:00 AM with track events beginning at noon. There will be two seeded heats per event. $6.00 digital admission tickets to the OHSAA 7th and 8th Grade Championships are available at OHSAA Jr High State Track & Field. Gates open at 8 AM.

• Congratulations to the Madeira Schools Foundation 2017 Distinguished Award Winners; Distinguished Alumni/Citizen: Larry Sheakley, '68, Distinguished Staff: John Taylor, and Friend of the Foundation: Jay Adrick. All winners, as well as the Madeira Schools Foundation scholarship recipients for the Class of 2017, will be honored at a luncheon on Tuesday, May 16 at Kenwood Country Club beginning at 11:30 AM. COMING UP:

• The World Language Department staff at Madeira High School would like to announce an open house to celebrate the retirement of Rick Schneider (Spanish and ESL teacher) and Cindy Cadet (French teacher). We invite all the staff of Madeira City Schools, community members, and current and former students to join us as we celebrate their years of service at Madeira. The open house will take place in the Courtyard of the Perin Learning Commons at Madeira High School on Saturday, May 13, from 2- 5 PM.

• Baccalaureate ceremonies for the graduates will be held Thursday, May 25 in Medert Auditorium at 7:30 PM. The Class of 2017 Graduation will be held in Ruth Romano Courtyard at 7:30 PM Saturday, May 27. Both locations are at Madeira High School, 7465 Loannes Drive.
