This project was developed and stewarded by the Easthampton City Arts Public Art Committee. Learn more here.

We are honored and thrilled to welcome our incoming studio resident Grace Kubilius to Art Workspace Easthampton (AWE)! We are thrilled to be working with you and look forward to seeing your work unfold in the coming months! Pictured here are Grace’s introduction to the space along with some images of past work.

Grace Kubilius is an interdisciplinary artist whose work includes wearable objects, sculpture, and video. Grace reflects:

"During my studio residency at ECA's Art Workspace Easthampton (AWE), I plan to utilize the time and space to create a series of textile focused sculptures and wearable objects. My work is situated in the questioning of gender construction, performing identity, and the body. Material investigation/ innovation is central to my practice--I choose material (based on cultural and narrative associations) that has a gendered or bodily potency.

I am especially interested in readily available material like makeup, latex, and flowers. What objects already exist and how have they shaped my understanding of my body or gender identity? Currently, I consider points of connection, such as tethering, piercing, zip tying, and joining materials, as crucial punctuations of my visual vocabulary, that I am excited to develop further.

Through the ECA residency program, I hope to connect with others (communities and individuals) surrounding topics intrinsic to my work. As our understanding of gendered existence and identity is continually being redefined, I aim to make space for honest conversation, questioning, and compassion. I look forward to challenging my ideas, learning from others, and allowing for vulnerability and evolution within my work."

Easthampton City Arts (ECA) is thrilled to collaborate with Danielle Tait Photography for this exciting and creative fundraising initiative that integrates art, local businesses, and community. As a city organization with a mission to create positive, innovative, and accessible arts programming and cultural events to generate and increase opportunities for artists and the local economy, ECA will apply 100% of the proceeds raised through this program to directly support working artists in our community, through upcoming programming.

We've raised more than $1,000 so far and all of these funds were added to the ECA Artist Grants Initiative so that more artists can be supported through this program.

Thank you so much, Danielle, for reaching out to ECA and for offering this wonderful opportunity to work together to raise more funds for local artists!

Here's a list of locations throughout downtown Easthampton where you can purchase a pin! Many thanks to all of our retail partners for your participation!
