Free Projects for Weekend Visitors!

The Eli Whitney Museum was recently awarded a grant from Connecticut Humanities to support our participation in the CT Summer at the Museum initiative. Admission to the Eli Whitney Museum is always free, so we are using the funds to provide educational projects for all visitors.

Plan your visit to the Eli Whitney Museum on the weekend. We are open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Please note that we are closed to visitors on weekdays.
No appointment or reservation is necessary.
When you visit us on a weekend day, an apprentice will work with your child to build a project. Sessions last from 20 minutes to an hour.
After building your project, you can enjoy our water lab just outside the main museum building. Float your boats on the water tables, experiment with water flowing from the mill river, or just cool off and play!
Don't be discouraged by a rainy day! We have our marble wall inside and a variety of projects to choose from.
