New Hours

People who took our survey voted for earlier opening hours, and we listened! The library's new weekday hours of 8 am - 8 pm took effect starting April 4, 2022. Our Friday and Saturday hours remain the same, 9 am - 5 pm. We will begin summer hours (open Friday 9 am - 3 pm, closed Saturdays) starting the second week in June.

Looking ahead to Summer ...

As restrictions on getting together have eased, we are planning for a summer full of fun! This year, for Summer Reading Club, we'll be bringing back the Story Tent on the lawn, as well as hosting a full slate of children's events such as concerts, puppet shows, animal programs, and crafts, all with the theme of "Get Up! Get Out! Get Reading!"

But you don't have to be a kid to love summer reading. We have some exciting programs planned for teens and adults in May and June, including a teen game night, Comic-Con, an interactive murder mystery play, and a book fair featuring local authors. We'll have more to do for all ages this summer!

Introducing BEAM!
Thursdays at 4 pm .

Looking for something active and engaging for kids to do after school? Check out BEAM, the library's new interactive, virtual playground that makes entertainment lively, energetic, and above all TONS of fun! Choose from several exciting games to play, including Bath Trouble, Hopscotch, Lumberjacks, Aliens vs. Scientists and more.

BEAM will be available in the Meeting Room every Thursday afternoon in May, from 4 - 5 pm. Reservations are not required, and walk-ins are welcome. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Wooden Animal Craft
Saturday, May 28, 10 am

Select from a variety of wooden animal shapes including bears, elephants, and gorillas to paint and decorate. Hand-cut from solid oak by craftsman Andy Santos of Somerset, these adorable animals can be painted with acrylic colors and embellished with a variety of materials that will be on hand for a unique and personalized look! They will make a great decoration in your home or a perfect gift for Father's Day!

Due to limited space and supplies, parents are asked to call the Children's Room at 508-324-2700, ext. 4 to reserve a spot.  Reservations will be taken starting Thursday, May 19th. For ages 6 and up.

Author Talk - Anya Costello, The Shadow Hour
New Date: Tuesday, May 10, 5 pm

Join us as we welcome local author Anya Costello, who recently had her first novel The Shadow Hour published. She will do a reading from her book, and talk about her process and experience of getting published!

More about The Shadow Hour:
"In this Hunger Games-like fantasy adventure novel, Amber is banished from the dangerous near future of her own reality to another realm known as the Shadow Realm. There she must survive a series of deadly obstacles in order to save not only herself and her friends, but humanity as well."

This event is intended for teens 12 and up, but parents, teachers, and other adults are welcome too!
