The Festival’s 2022 Manetti Shrem Summer Conservatory Fellows join together for a special program celebrating the vocal arts. These young professional singers are taking part in an intensive 3-week program of performance and study with some of today’s foremost vocal teachers and coaches. Come hear the voices of the stars of tomorrow!

6:30pm: Opening Night with Festival Orchestra Napa
The 16th Season of Festival Napa Valley opens with Carlo Ponti conducting Leonard Bernstein’s Candide Overture performed by Festival Orchestra Napa. Sophia Bacelar performs movements from Daniel Brewbaker’s cello concerto La Serenissima.  The evening concludes with Dvo?ák’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World."

8:00pm: Patron Dinner at HALL St. Helena
For Kathryn Hall, art and architecture have long been as much a part of her life as the vineyards that surrounded her growing up in Mendocino wine country. When she and her husband Craig purchased the circa 1885 Bergfeld Winery in St. Helena in 2003, their mission became to create a place as beautiful as the wines that came from it.

6:30pm: Young People's Chorus of NYC
The Young People’s Chorus of New York City, led by Francisco J. Núñez, returns to Festival Napa Valley. The evening includes the world premiere of Polaris by Nia Imani Franklin along with Gordon Getty’s Young America. Renowned baritone Lester Lynch reunites with the chorus for a selection of hymns and spirituals. Also performing are the winners of this year’s Manetti Shrem Opera Prize: soprano Mikayla Sager and tenor Mario Chang.

Following the performance, mix and mingle with the artists and local wine industry stars at this exclusive patron dinner hosted by Quintessa. 11:00am: Bouchaine Sound of Music Concert: Dmitry Masleev
“Super-soloist” is the way France Musique introduced pianist Dmitry Masleev when he made his debut with the Orchestre National de France, playing Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1, the work that helped launch his international career when he won the 2015 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition.

5:00pm: Arts for All Gala with Trisha Yearwood
Making the arts accessible to everyone is one of Festival Napa Valley’s central tenets—and the purpose of tonight’s gala. Wine Country’s premier arts charity event, the Arts for All Gala is one of the most meaningful nights of the Festival. With more than $15 million raised to date, it is also among the nation’s biggest fundraisers for arts education.

11:00am: Bouchaine Young Artist Concert: Amaryn Olmeda
Northern California native and San Francisco Conservatory of Music student Amaryn Olmeda began playing the violin at four years old and made her performance debut at the age of six. She has since been wowing audiences across the United States and Europe with her bold and expressive performances.

6:00pm: Donor Exclusive
Festival Napa Valley presents a very special evening of music, poetry, food, and wine. This donor exclusive event kicks off at the beautiful mission style Mont La Salle Chapel. Featuring Grammy-nominated violinist Tessa Lark, soprano Alexandra Armantrading and distinguished guest artists, the performances continue at a celebratory dinner at the neighboring Hess Persson Estates, hosted by proprietors and fifth-generation Hess family members Sabrina and Timothy Persson.

Maestra Michelle Di Russo leads Festival Orchestra Napa in Dave and Chris Brubeck's exhilarating ode to the famed American landscape photographer and environmentalist. Incorporating over 100 Ansel Adams photographs, this multimedia program concludes with a performance by the dynamic Brubeck Brothers Quartet.

11:30am: Vintner's Luncheon at Cardinale
Today Pomellato is partnering with Cardinale–a winery that, since 1982, has captured the elegance, power, and beauty of Cabernet from some of the most sought-after plots in the Napa Valley. Winemaker Chris Carpenter made a name for himself as the guru of blending, intuitively and patiently letting each lot mature in barrel for two years before deciding on the final blend, allowing the unique complexity that only vintage variation can create.

5:30pm: Women in the Arts Dinner
Join dance icons Melanie Hamrick, Joanna DeFelice, and Christine Shevcenko for an intimate speaking event and dinner in celebration of Women in the Arts. The creative force behind Live Arts Global, the three will share the story of the creation of their company and their own noted careers as dancers, choreographers, and producers. Live Arts Global is producing Festival Napa Valley's A Night at the Ballet: From Tchaikosvky to The Rolling Stones on July 21.

6:30pm: Tchaikovsky in America
Festival Napa Valley commemorates composer Tchaikovsky’s first and only visit to America to inaugurate Carnegie Hall in 1891. Constantine Orbelian, recently named Music Director of New York City Opera, conducts Festival Orchestra Napa in Tchaikovsky’s dazzling Violin Concerto, with soloist Tessa Lark, and the famous Piano Concerto No. 1 with soloist Dmitry Masleev.

In 1948 Mario Trinchero and his family made their way west to build a better life. They purchased an abandoned Prohibition-era winery in St. Helena, refurbished it, and scraped by as a mom-and-pop operation. Seven decades later, Trinchero Family Estates is one of the largest family-owned wine companies in the United States.

6:30pm: Manetti Shrem Opera: Gaetano Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore
The exhilarating soprano Andriana Chuchman returns to Festival Napa Valley to headline L’elisir d’amore, Donizetti’s 1832 comic masterpiece, with an outstanding cast that also includes tenor Mario Chang as the lovestruck peasant Nemorino, soprano Mikayla Sager as Adina’s friend Giannetta, with singers from the Festival’s Manetti Shrem Summer Conservatory. Directed by Jean-Romain Vesperini with Gemma New conducting.

Alpha Omega’s annual barbeque brunch has become a favorite tradition at Festival Napa Valley. Robin and Michelle Baggett, consummate hosts, embody a warm and heartfelt approach to appreciating the finer things in life. They effortlessly make visitors to their modern-ranch style Rutherford estate feel like family.

Today they invite guests to enjoy a relaxed afternoon of food, wine, and music. Robin will be manning the grill and masterfully roasting a whole hog for this unforgettable lunch, replete with Alpha Omega’s phenomenal wines.

Celebrated pianist and 2022 Classical Woman of the Year Lara Downes is joined by a quintet exploring music from her new chart-topping album Reflections: Scott Joplin Reconsidered.  Revered as The King of Ragtime, Joplin was in fact much more – an innovator who merged traditions and histories to make music at the crossroads of the American future.

Festival Napa Valley closes its 16th Season with a concert featuring two beloved masterworks: Copland’s quintessentially American ballet score Rodeo and Rimsky-Korsakov’s evocative orchestral suite Scheherazade, sharing the bill with Blue Fire by the late great American composer Daniel Brewbaker.  Michelle Di Russo leads Festival Orchestra Napa.
